Doing our part to clean up the oceans

I’ve spent a lot of time to talking to our followers and observers about trees, and their impact in reducing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. But there is another problem that we are facing as civilisation. The oceans. Our oceans’ play a huge role in the future of our environment and climate change. They need protecting and a huge part of that is removing plastic from them.

The issue is that there are over 5 trillion pieces of plastic currently littering the ocean. That’s bad. Really bad.

Rubbish tends accumulates in five ocean garbage patches, the largest one being the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’, located between Hawaii and California. If left to circulate, the plastic will impact our ecosystems, health, and economies. Solving it requires a combination of closing the source, and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean.

The Ocean Cleanup develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. A full-scale deployment of our systems is estimated to clean up 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch every five years.

At Amorucci, we have chosen to, at the end of each month, set donate £1 of every shirt we sell to the Ocean Clean up, to try and do our bit to help clear our ocean of plastic.

Yay Amorucci!

Worth noting too that, as with everything we promise to do, its not done only if/when we make a profit, it is done directly from revenue, on a monthly basis – every shirt helps.

We CAN prevent a climate disaster and Amorucci is doing its bit.
